Judith Ploszek, MBA, has been named the permanent CFO of Tampa General Hospital, a role she’s held on an acting basis since last year.

The 1,011-bed hospital welcomed a new president and CEO, John Couris, on Aug. 28. According to a press release, one of his first actions was to name Ploszek the permanent CFO.

“Judith Ploszek has done an outstanding job as acting CFO over the past year,” Couris said in a statement. “She has already demonstrated the fiscal leadership and sound judgment we need in this vital role. I look forward to working with her to ensure that Tampa General maintains its strong financial health. This allows us to fulfill our mission: to improve the lives and health of our patients and our region.”

Ploszek earned her undergraduate degree at Notre Dame and her MBA with concentrations in accounting and healthcare administration at the University of Chicago. She’s been with Tampa General since 1998, beginning as vice president for finance.

She took over the CFO role from Steve Short, who served as acting president and CEO before Couris was hired. Short has now assumed a new role as executive vice president and special counsel to the CEO.
